🇪🇺 Digital Strategy • European Union Funding Official Funding Acknowledgment: NextGenerationEU 3 July 2025 Davitt College wishes to acknowledge funding received as part of a Department of Education project under Ireland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). This initiative is proudly supported by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funding under the Recovery and Resilience Facility. Our school received a grant to implement digital initiatives aimed at overcoming the digital divide and supporting learners at risk of educational disadvantage. How This Investment Benefited Our Students: Enhanced Access: The funding was utilised to purchase student laptops and secure laptop charging trollies, ensuring technology is readily available across classrooms. Immersive Learning: Virtual Reality (VR) headsets were introduced, allowing students to engage in cutting-edge, interactive learning experiences. This investment is already having an immensely positive impact—empowering our students to access rich online resources, complete coursework efficiently, and build essential digital skills for the future. 🇪🇺 Global Outlook • Erasmus+ Accreditation Davitt College Celebrates Prestigious Erasmus+ School Accreditation and Flag-Raising Ceremony 4 September 2024 Davitt College, Castlebar, has officially been recognised as an Erasmus+ Accredited School, marking a major milestone in the school’s commitment to internationalised education. This prestigious status, awarded as part of the European Union Erasmus+ Programme (2021–2027), secures long-term funding for the school to participate in cross-border educational mobility and collaborative European projects. To celebrate this achievement, students and staff gathered for an official flag-raising ceremony. The Erasmus+ flag was hoisted at the front of the school building, where it now flies proudly as a symbol of the school’s global outlook and interconnected learning environment. Driving Educational Excellence Across Europe This formal accreditation opens up incredible pathways for the entire Davitt College community, including: Student Exchange Programmes: Giving students the unique opportunity to experience European cultures, practice modern languages, and collaborate on shared academic initiatives with partner schools across the EU. Professional Development: Enabling teaching staff to engage in international training and job-shadowing, bringing innovative European pedagogical methodologies straight back into Castlebar classrooms. Inclusive Initiatives: Securing dedicated resources to support diverse learners and ensure equitable access to international experiences for all students. Sustainable Travel: Park and Stride Scheme

🌿 Sustainable Travel • Green-Schools Initiative Sustainable Travel: Park and Stride Scheme 24 August 2023 Davitt College, in partnership with Mayo County Council, An Taisce Green-Schools, and the National Transport Authority, is proud to support the Park and Stride initiative. What is Park and Stride? Park and Stride means leaving the car about a 10-minute walk away from the school gate and making the final leg of the journey to school on foot. For parents and guardians, the walk to and from the car provides 15–20 minutes of daily physical exercise, while helping to significantly reduce traffic congestion and idling fumes directly outside our school gates. How Does it Work? Castlebar Municipal District supports the scheme by allowing registered parents and guardians to use participating local car parks free of charge (where parking charges normally apply) for a short period during school drop-off and pick-up times. Designated Morning Times: 8:00am to 9:30am (1 hour maximum) Designated Afternoon Times: 1:00pm to 4:30pm (1 hour maximum) Operating Days: Monday to Friday during school term time only. Participating Castlebar Car Parks: Castle Street Car Park Market Square Car Park Pavilion Road Car Park Town Park Car Park Spencer Street Car Park How to Register & Obtain Your Permit To avail of free parking during these windows, parents must clearly display an official Park and Stride Permit Sticker inside the front windshield of their vehicle. Complete the official registration form attached to this notice. To help spread awareness throughout the school community, the students channeled their creativity into designing a series of vibrant, educational posters on this very valuable topic. Their work highlights excellent practical tips for saving energy both at home and at school, proving that small changes can make a massive difference.
