The Student Council: The Voice of the Student Body
The student council is the collective voice of the student body. It serves as a bridge between students and school leadership, making sure that the ideas, concerns, and aspirations of students are heard and taken seriously.
At its core, the student council represents democracy in action. Each member is chosen by their peers to stand up for their interests and work towards creating a more inclusive, engaging, and supportive school environment. Whether it’s organising events, advocating for changes in school policies, or addressing day-to-day issues that affect students, the council plays a vital role in shaping student life.
The Student Council meets fortnightly at lunchtime and liaises with the principal after these meetings. At Davitt College we recognise the importance of listening to all and working together to make our school the best place it can be.
It teaches responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. It empowers students to speak up and take ownership of their school experience.
In essence, the student council is not just a group; it’s a platform. A platform where every student has the chance to be heard, represented, and included. It reflects the true spirit of a school community — one where everyone has a role to play and every voice counts.
