Transfer Applicants

All transfer applications to the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth or Sixth Year Groups in Davitt College other than to the Special Class, will only be accepted after the 15/04/2024 and the closing date for receipt of applications is the 08/05/2024.

FAQ’s on Admission’s to Davitt College

Anyone who wishes to have their son/daughter considered for admission to 1st year 2024/2025 in Davitt College must submit an Application Form for Admission 2024/2025 by 26 January 2024 at 4:00p.m.
The Application Form for Admission 2024/2025 is available to complete online at www.davittcollege.ie/enrolment. Alternatively it can be downloaded and printed from the school website, or posted to you once requested via email to [email protected] or by contacting the school office.
There are no additional documents to be submitted with the Application Form for Admission 2024/2025 unless your application is for the Special Class. If your application is for the Special Class, please ensure that a relevant report which has been prepared within the 24 months immediately preceding the Student’s application to the Special Class. For further information please refer to the Admission Policy for 2024/2025.
A submission of an Application Form for Admission 2024/2025 does not constitute an offer of a place, implied or otherwise.
All applicants to the First-Year Group will be notified of an offer of a place or refusal of admission by 9 February 2024.
Applications received after this time and date will be considered and processed as late applications in accordance with the school’s Admission Policy.
The school’s Board of Management have indicated that there are 144 places for 1st year students in the 2024/2025 school year. When the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, the published selection criteria as set out in the Davitt College Admission’s Policy 2024/2025 will be followed and a waiting list shall be compiled.

Yes, all students take part in a subsidised book rental scheme.
The school has a canteen at both break & lunchtimes. As part of the School Meals Scheme, snacks and hot meals are provided free of charge at Davitt College.
All this information is gathered at the time of application to the school. In the event of any new medical conditions it is important to inform the school immediately of this. Please do not hesitate to contact the front office or Year Head here in the school if your child has an allergy or medical condition.
There are book rental, locker & admin fees.
Please refer to our school prospectus & a subject choice form will be sent to you once you are offered & have accepted a place in Davitt College.
The P.E. department coordinate many sporting teams. There are also Big Brother Big Sister Programmes, reading clubs, lunch time activities etc.
The school uniform can be purchased in Fahey's & Prendergast's, Main Street, Castlebar.
Yes, a Davitt College P.E. top (which can be ordered in September through the school), Black tracksuit bottoms & trainers
Yes, our HSCL Ms. Sylvia Rattigan can be contacted here at the school. There is also a transition and induction programme for all First Year students .
If your child is very anxious or nervous about the transition our HSCL, Ms. Sylvia Rattigan will organise a visit to the school in the summer.
You need to speak with the SEN Coordinator regarding this. It is very important that you organise and send a copy of your child's exemption certificate from your child's Primary School to Davitt College.
First & Second Year students stay in school for break & lunch times. They are not permitted to leave the school grounds. Some students go home for lunch with their guardians permission which is kept on the students school file.
The school does not conduct "entrance exams". Students undergo a series of standardised tests to assess students levels of literacy and numeracy and aid in identifying their possible strengths and aptitudes as well as areas of focus.
