🏸 Regional Badminton Success 4th Year Boys Crowned Division C Badminton Champions 29 April 2026 Dominant Court Displays Secure Regional Title A phenomenal day on the courts for our boys’ badminton squads as they traveled to Ballina to compete in the highly competitive Division C tournament. The standard of play was exceptionally high, but our panels rose to the challenge with fantastic grit and sharp tactical focus. A massive congratulations to our standout 4th Year boys’ team, who put on a clinical performance to be officially crowned Division C Winners—an incredible achievement for the school’s racket sports program! The entire school community is immensely proud of all our students for the immense work ethic, technical execution, and excellent sportsmanship they displayed throughout the entire tournament. Huge praise goes out to every player involved and to the mentors who guided them to regional success while representing Davitt College with total pride.

🏐 Senior Cycle GAA Blitz Thrilling Action at TY & 5th Year GAA Blitz 12 March 2026 Competitive Development on the Astro There was fantastic action on the pitch last Thursday as Davitt College hosted a highly competitive TY and 5th Year GAA Blitz on the superb astro facilities at Castlebar Mitchels GAA. Designed to give senior cycle students valuable game time and foster competitive development, the blitz brought a brilliant standard of football to the capital town. We were thrilled to welcome a strong lineup of schools from across the region for a fantastic day of games: ✅ Scoil Muire agus Pádraig, Swinford ✅ St. Joseph’s Community College, Charlestown ✅ St. Patrick’s College, Foxford ✅ Gairmscoil Chormaic, Lacken Cross ✅ Moyne College, Ballina With a high volume of matches played across the day, the standard of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship on display from every single squad was a credit to their schools. Acknowledging the Support An event of this scale relies on excellent coordination and officiating. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mayo GAA Games Development Officer (GDO) Martin Costello for his continued, invaluable logistical support on the sidelines. Special thanks also goes to referee Jimmy Feeney, who kept the games flowing excellently and ensured a high-tempo, fair competitive environment throughout the tournament. 🏐 Junior Volleyball • Home Blitz Triumph Junior Girls Excel in Thrilling Home Volleyball Blitz 28 January 2026 The sports hall was buzzing today as Davitt College played host to an outstanding school volleyball blitz, welcoming panels from Summerhill College and Coláiste Iascaigh (Easkey). Our Junior Girls Volleyball team put in a phenomenal performance across both fixtures. While they narrowly lost out to a sharp Easkey side in a 2–1 set thriller, the girls bounced back immediately, executing a commanding 2–0 victory over Summerhill. The entire panel showed superb technical growth, teamwork, and determination from the first serve to the final whistle. ×

The tournament brought together a highly competitive mix of talent, with six secondary schools participating in the event: ✅ Davitt College ✅ St. Patrick’s College, Foxford ✅ Scoil Muire agus Pádraig, Swinford ✅ Coláiste Muire, Tourmakeady ✅ Gairmscoil Chormaic, Lacken Cross ✅ Coláiste Pobail Acla, Achill The focus of the blitz was entirely on player development, skill refinement, and game time, ensuring plenty of high-quality football was played by everyone who toggled out. Today, our distance running panel traveled to the beautiful trails of Lough Key Forest Park for the highly anticipated North Connacht Cross Country Competition. Following on from our immensely proud campaign on the exact same turf on January 16th, 2025, today’s outing proved that Davitt College has established a stellar tradition of excellence in Roscommon. Setting the Bar for Character and Camaraderie Against a massive field of elite young runners from across the region, our students delivered an incredible, high-energy sporting performance over the challenging winter course. 🏀 U19 Basketball • Back-to-Back League Wins A Perfect Start: Davitt College U19 Basketball Secure Back-to-Back Wins 21 November 2025 Our U19 Boys Basketball team are flying high after wrapping up a phenomenal couple of weeks on the hardwood, securing two critical league victories out of two. The squad put on a masterclass in teamwork, defensive grit, and clinical shooting to edge out top-tier regional opposition and keep their momentum surging forward for the season ahead. Victory Over Ballyhaunis and Rice College The impressive run began with a commanding performance against a tough Ballyhaunis side, where the lads set the tempo early and refused to let up. They backed that up immediately in their next fixture against Rice College. In a high-stakes, intense encounter, Davitt College showed tremendous composure under pressure to close out the game and lock in two massive wins from two starts. Record-Breaking Display from Craig Siose While the victories were a complete team effort, the game against Rice College featured a truly extraordinary individual performance. Under-17 International star Craig Siose put on an absolute clinic, putting the team on his back by dropping an unbelievable 39 points of the school’s 63-point total. It was a flawless, elite-level display of shooting and leadership that left spectators and opposition alike in awe. This past weekend, our elite school swim panel traveled to Longford to fly the flag at the highly anticipated Connacht Schools Swimming Championships. Facing off against the fastest junior and intermediate lane swimmers in the West, our squad delivered a fantastic series of technical performances under immense competitive pressure. A Tradition of Excellence in the Lanes This weekend’s superb showing comes as no surprise to anyone tracking the growth of swimming within our sports department. It builds directly on the brilliant foundations laid back on 16 January 2024, when our core team of Alannah Curley, Saoirse McCaffrey, Clara Kelly, Charlotte Langan, and Ruby Rennick put on a masterclass of diving form, turn mechanics, and sprint pacing at the same Longford venue. That stellar momentum carried straight into the Connacht Schools Swimming Gala on 3 February 2025, where the panel—joined by Jack Rice—pushed their personal best times even lower, proving that consistent hours in the pool yield elite results. Pride in the Crest Competing at this level demands a grueling training schedule, flawless breathing technique, and incredible explosive power off the blocks. Every single member of the squad represented the school crest with absolute distinction, showing great camaraderie and elite competitive focus throughout the weekend gala.
