💙 Community Spirit • €1,200 Raised for Charity Swim Team Raises Over €1,200 for Sunflower Children’s Hospice! 2 May 2026 True team performance isn’t just measured by medals won or personal bests recorded in the pool—it is also defined by leadership, compassion, and community impact. Yesterday, the exceptional students of the Davitt College Swimming Team proved exactly that, organizing a phenomenal school-wide Jersey Day that captured the incredible generosity and community spirit of our entire school body. Over €1,200 Raised for a Meaningful Cause Thanks to the tireless organizing efforts of the swim squad and the fantastic backing of our students, staff, and management, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that over €1,200 was raised in a single day! Every cent collected goes directly to support the invaluable work of the Sunflower Children’s Hospice, providing vital care, comfort, and specialized support to children and their families during incredibly challenging times. Training for the Ultimate Test: Swim the Shannon 360km This massive school fundraiser builds directly on the announcement from April 30th, highlighting our elite squad members from Castlebar Swimming Club who are preparing for a grueling athletic challenge. On Saturday, 16th May, our athletes will dive into the water at the Lough Lannagh Complex to participate in the monumental Swimathon-Swim the Shannon 360km event. Taking on a massive distance test like the Swimathon requires immense physical endurance and mental toughness. Knowing that they are swimming to back up such a vital charity will undoubtedly provide a massive boost when those late-stage meters get tough. Your outstanding teamwork, deep compassion, and community spirit truly make a difference. 🤝 Community & Charity • Transition Year Action TY Leadership in Action: Davitt College Presents €500 Cheque to St. Vincent de Paul 11 March 2026 Following the incredible success of our recent winter fundraising campaigns, we were absolutely delighted to welcome Helen Ralph from SVP, along with volunteers Mick and Tadhg, to the Davitt College campus today. They met face-to-face with our fantastic Transition Year SVP team, the driving force behind three major community initiatives this term: the Beanie Winter Appeal, the Christmas Food Appeal, and our recent Bake Sale. Local Impact Direct Support for Local Families During her visit, Helen spoke with students about the vital day-to-day work SVP carries out, detailing exactly how these funds provide direct, essential support right here in our local community. 🎄 Charity Fundraiser • Community Spirit Christmas Jumper Day Raises €724.94 for Mayo Roscommon Hospice 28 January 2021 • Davitt College Community Christmas is now a distant memory for us all! But we wanted to spread some of the festive cheer that was in the air towards the end of our last term with a look back at our fantastic Christmas Jumper Day. Our students and staff fully embraced the festive spirit, lighting up the school corridors in an incredible array of colorful, creative, and wonderfully festive knitwear. More importantly, the event was a massive fundraising success. Thanks to the outstanding generosity of our school community, a grand total of €724.94 was raised for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice. A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, brought in festive cheer, and donated to this incredibly worthy cause. 💙 Community & Charity • Student Leadership Davitt College Pupils Sing to Make a Difference for Childline 31 January 2013 • Davitt College Castlebar Davitt College, Castlebar, extends its warmest congratulations to talented student musicians Ethan Carey and Cathal Noonan, who represented the school spectacularly as Connacht/Ulster-West finalists in the popular “Our Schools Got Talent” competition. The high-stakes regional final took place before an enthusiastic crowd at the TF Royal Theatre on Sunday, 27th January 2013, where both performers did their school immensely proud with a magnificent live musical showcase. 🎤 Charity In Action Student-Led Campus Concerts Inspired by the cause, Ethan and Cathal organized a series of lunchtime live gigs with fellow Davitt College contestants, rallying the entire school community behind the ISPCC and Childline. Funds Raised €500+ For ISPCC Childline 🎭 TF Royal Theatre Finalists Competing at provincial level, the duo demonstrated exceptional musicianship, stage presence, and confidence on one of Castlebar’s premier stages. 🤝 National Impact Directly supporting the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) and their critical, 24-hour national childline support lines. 💙 Charitable Giving • Student Leadership Davitt College Generosity: €820 Raised for ISPCC and Childline 5 January 2013 • Davitt College Castlebar Davitt College, Castlebar, was proud to hand over a substantial donation to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC), demonstrating the incredible community spirit and generosity of our student body. The school community organized a highly successful on-campus fundraising drive, successfully raising €820 to support the vital national child protection and listening services provided 24/7 by Childline. Campaign Initiatives Shield Badges & Concert Ticket Raffle Students spearheaded the campaign by selling the iconic blue ISPCC shield badges across all year groups. Adding to the buzz, a special raffle was held for two premium tickets to the Cheerios Childline Concert in Dublin, generously sponsored by Teresa McHale.
