🏆 Annual School Event Davitt College Annual Awards Ceremony 2025 21 May 2025 Davitt College, Castlebar, proudly hosted its Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 21st May 2025, bringing together students, staff, and families to celebrate outstanding achievement, perseverance, and dedication both inside and beyond the classroom. The school was honored to welcome past student, author, and journalist Mr. Edwin McGreal as Guest of Honour. Reflecting fondly on his own school days at Davitt College, Mr. McGreal delivered an inspiring address, encouraging students to pursue their ambitions with hard work, embrace the importance of equality, and cherish the unique experiences of their school years. 🏆 All-Ireland Camogie • National Champions National Shield Silverware Heads West After Dominant Dublin Display 19 April 2025 A historic and proud day for Mayo Camogie—and a massive cause for celebration at Davitt College—as the Mayo Under-16 squad captured the U16 All-Ireland ‘C’ Shield Championship title! The team put on a masterclass performance at St. Peregrines GAA Grounds in Dublin, defeating a tough Louth side with an emphatic final scoreline of 3-10 to 0-06 to bring the national silverware back across the Shannon. Davitt College Representatives We are absolutely bursting with pride for our five brilliant Davitt College students who played an integral role in this All-Ireland winning campaign: Kate Ludden Grace Carroll Aoibhinn Conway (who scored a crucial 1-01 during the clash!) Katlyn Morahan Victoria Connolly Their selection, unparalleled work rate, and execution on the national stage represent the very pinnacle of dedication and athletic skill. Go raibh míle maith agaibh do na daltaí sóisearacha agus sinsearacha go léir a ghlac páirt sa Tráth na gCeist, agus comhghairdeas mór leis na buaiteoirí! 🎓 Academic Excellence • STEM & University Certification Fifty Senior Graphics Students Awarded University Level 6 Certificates in 21st Century STEM Skills 5 November 2024 The entire Davitt College community is incredibly proud of fifty of our Senior students who were officially awarded their Certificate in 21st Century STEM Skills from the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo. Our students successfully completed three intensive “STEM Passport for Inclusion” workshops facilitated by industry experts and academic mentors during their Transition Year cycle. Having submitted their high-level technical assignments, they have now officially qualified with an NFQ Level 6 Certificate in STEM Skills, fully recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications. Pioneering STEM Inclusion & Industry Pathways This national initiative, led by Dr Katriona O’Sullivan at Maynooth University and jointly backed by Microsoft Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland, directly addresses gender inequalities in technical fields. By combining a formal university qualification with structured mentoring from industry role models, the programme provides an elite pathway for students to progress to third-level education and secure high-value STEM qualifications. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to Mr David Nevin (TY Co-ordinator) and our Career Guidance Department for supporting and encouraging our engineering and graphics students on this prestigious academic journey. This prestigious status, awarded as part of the European Union Erasmus+ Programme (2021–2027), secures long-term funding for the school to participate in cross-border educational mobility and collaborative European projects. To celebrate this achievement, students and staff gathered for an official flag-raising ceremony. The Erasmus+ flag was hoisted at the front of the school building, where it now flies proudly as a symbol of the school’s global outlook and interconnected learning environment.
