TY Leaders Shine at FAI Schools Primary 5s Regional Qualifiers

⚽ Youth Sport • TY Leadership & Officiating TY Leaders Shine at FAI Schools Primary 5s Regional Qualifiers 14 February 2025 Fourteen of our fantastic Transition Year students had a highly productive, busy, and thoroughly enjoyable week assisting at the FAI Mayo 5-a-side Primary Schools competition. It was another monumental week for the tournament, which saw over 750 energetic primary school students competing across the intense West and South Mayo Regional Qualifiers. Our TY students took a central role on the sidelines and pitches, ensuring matches ran smoothly, officiating fixtures, and supporting the young players throughout the days. 🤝 Community & Club Partnership A tournament of this massive scale succeeds entirely on collaboration, and a huge well-done goes to all the participating players, dedicated teachers, and schools who traveled to make the qualifiers so competitive. Special thanks are extended to the TY cohorts from Davitt College, Sacred Heart School, and Rice College for their brilliant leadership and peer support. We also want to give a massive shout-out to Westport United FC and the Mayo Football League for acting as superb, welcoming hosts and providing top-tier facilities for the games. 📅 What’s Next? The regional action isn’t slowing down! The tournament shifts focus immediately after the weekend, moving directly on to the East Mayo Regional Qualifiers, which kick off from Tuesday onward. Best of luck to all the primary teams and the coordinators involved! Well done to our brilliant Transition Year leaders on representing Davitt College with such distinction! ⚽🧤👏 ×

⚽ FAI Schools • Transition Year Sports Leadership TY Students Lead the Way at FAI Schools Primary 5s Section Qualifiers 9 February 2024 • Umbro Park, Milebush Our Transition Year students were back in action this week, showcasing outstanding leadership, coordination, and sporting spirit at the FAI Schools Primary 5s Central Section Qualifiers. The tournament kicked off with immense energy at Umbro Park, Milebush, as over 30 primary school teams arrived in Castlebar for two brilliant days of fast-paced, high-scoring action. Davitt College once again took a central role in making the event a massive success, with our TY coordinators managing pitch logistics, refereeing high-intensity fixtures, and keeping the tournament running like clockwork. ❄️ Weather Update & Upcoming Fixtures While the opening days delivered fantastic football, the elements ultimately had the final say later in the week. Thursday and Friday’s scheduled qualifiers unfortunately fell foul of the unseasonal snow and will be rescheduled for a later date. The tournament will briefly pause for the mid-term break, but the action resumes immediately afterwards as the blitzes head out to the West and East section qualifiers. 🤝 Outstanding Leadership from Davitt College Organisers extended a huge thank you to Davitt College and our incredible TY students for their brilliant, unwavering support again this year. Celtic & Castlebar Primary School Link Programme Wraps Up a Fantastic Success

⚽ School Link Programme • Community Sports Celtic & Castlebar Primary School Link Programme Wraps Up a Fantastic Success 12 May 2023 • Castlebar Primary School & Castlebar Celtic F.C. We are incredibly proud to have run our school link programme over the last few weeks—an initiative that has been a major goal for a long time, with Castlebar Primary School proving to be the absolute perfect partner for Castlebar Celtic F.C. to work with. The programme focused on giving young kids a brilliant, active introduction to the game. Throughout the weeks, participants learned the core fundamentals of football, stayed highly active, and for some, experienced the joy of playing football for the very first time. Early Engagement & Inclusivity A massive driving force behind this initiative is changing how and when children get involved in club sport. Traditionally, most kids have their first taste of club football at an older age, typically around 8 or 9 years old. By launching this school link programme, the goal was to break down those barriers and give a much wider range of children the opportunity to play football at a younger age, fostering a love for the sport right inside the school environment. Building Local Foundations A huge thank you goes out to every coach, teacher, and volunteer who worked behind the scenes to make this inaugural programme such a resounding success. This is just the beginning of a brilliant partnership, and we are really looking forward to building even deeper relationships with schools and families across the local community in the future! ⚽🟢⚪🤝✨ ×
