The letter outlines the Government’s structured, public health-approved framework to safely transition students back to the classroom starting from March 2021. This phased approach has been designed in coordination with the Department of Health and the HSE to closely monitor community safety at every stage. Please review the core return dates, safety guidelines, and official public health advice outlined below. 📅 Staggered Return Timeline Monday 1 March Return of final-year Leaving Certificate students. Monday 15 March Target Date Return of fifth-year Leaving Certificate students. Monday 12 April Target Date Return of the remaining post-primary students (1st to 4th Year) following the Easter break. 🛡️ Essential Health & Safety Reminders Symptom Check: Parents are requested to strictly monitor for any symptoms of Covid-19; children displaying symptoms must not attend school. School Gates: To support safety measures, parents are asked to be individually responsible and avoid lingering outside the school gates during morning drop-off and afternoon collection times. 🍪 Wellbeing Initiative • Culinary Masterclass Cooking Demonstration: Easter Gingerbread Men with Siobhan Donnelly 24 February 2021 • Davitt College & School Completion Programme As part of our ongoing Wellbeing Initiative, Davitt College and the School Completion Programme were delighted to welcome Siobhan Donnelly of “Siobhan’s Cakes and Bakes” to the school to deliver a series of engaging cookery demonstrations. Taking place on Wednesday afternoons, these interactive sessions are designed to promote student wellbeing, practical life skills, and nutritional awareness through expert culinary showcases. For her very first demonstration, Siobhan guided our audience through the step-by-step process of baking and beautifully decorating festive Easter Gingerbread Men. Those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed learning the secrets to perfect dough consistency, spice balance, and detailed icing techniques. A sincere thank you to Siobhan Donnelly and the School Completion Programme for facilitating this wonderful wellness initiative. 🎄 Charity Fundraiser • Community Spirit Christmas Jumper Day Raises €724.94 for Mayo Roscommon Hospice 28 January 2021 • Davitt College Community Christmas is now a distant memory for us all! But we wanted to spread some of the festive cheer that was in the air towards the end of our last term with a look back at our fantastic Christmas Jumper Day. Our students and staff fully embraced the festive spirit, lighting up the school corridors in an incredible array of colorful, creative, and wonderfully festive knitwear. More importantly, the event was a massive fundraising success. Thanks to the outstanding generosity of our school community, a grand total of €724.94 was raised for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice. A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, brought in festive cheer, and donated to this incredibly worthy cause. Davitt College Junior Cycle Assessment Policy 2020

🎓 Academic Policies • Junior Cycle 2020 Davitt College Junior Cycle Assessment Policy 2020 8 May 2020 • Davitt College Academic Council Due to the unprecedented disruption to the 2019/2020 academic year, the Department of Education and Skills has announced that the traditional Junior Cycle State Examinations will not take place this year. Instead, schools have been granted the autonomy to assess students locally. Davitt College has developed a comprehensive, whole-school approach to ensure our Third Year students are assessed fairly and accurately. 📊 How Will Students Be Assessed? The final grade for each subject will be calculated using a structured 90/10 split: 90% Recognition of Prior Learning Based on continuous coursework, in-class tests, and Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs) completed between September 2018 and the school closure on 12th March 2020. 10% May 2020 Assessment A short, manageable assessment activity (maximum 30 minutes) to be completed remotely before 25th May 2020. 💚 We want to assure all parents and students that wellbeing remains our top priority during this challenging time. 📄 Official Policy Documentation For full details regarding the grading process, timelines, and guidelines for students, please download the official policy documents below: 📑 School-Based Assessment Policy 2020 Official Davitt College policy document governing Junior Cycle grading and metrics.
