A Brand New Day in Oz
Follow the Yellow Brick Road back to November 2024 for our magical, technicolor hybrid journey to the Emerald City.
■ The Story
Swept away from Kansas by a massive tornado, Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto find themselves in the magical, technicolor Land of Oz. To find their way back home, they must follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, teaming up with a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion along the way. But this isn't just the classic tale—our production fused the traditional story with the vibrant, soulful energy of The Wiz, creating a completely unique journey through Oz.
■ The Production
In November 2024, an incredible cast and crew of over 140 Davitt College students took to the stage to bring this massive, hybrid production to life. By blending the iconic charm of the original Wizard of Oz with the high-energy, contemporary music and scenes from The Wiz, the students delivered a fresh, dynamic theatrical experience. The sheer scale of the ensemble and the complexity of tackling two distinct musical styles showcased the relentless dedication and talent of our performing arts department.
