The Story of the TY Times
What began as a simple newsletter has evolved into the definitive voice of Transition Year at Davitt College. Founded by teachers Claire Gallagher and Damien Gallagher, the TY Times is a dynamic publication dedicated to capturing the energy, creativity, and daily life of our students. While the founders serve as managing editors — stepping in for the occasional teacher editorial — the true heart of the newspaper is the student body. From the ground-level reporting to photography captured by both students and external contributors alike, every issue is a testament to the talent and teamwork of the TY class.

The voice of the paper belongs to the students. The entire publication is written, researched, and compiled by the TY students themselves.
The Room 48U Newsroom
Mr. Gallagher's room transforms into a full working newsroom where students collaborate under the guidance of Mr. Gallagher and Ms. Gallagher to pitch ideas and draft copy.

We release four highly anticipated issues a year, dropping right before holiday breaks so families can enjoy reading them together.
