Guys & Dolls

The 1998 Davitt College Production

Davitt College Stage Productions

Luck Be a Lady Tonight

Relive the charm of Broadway's classic musical fable. A look back at our phenomenal 1998 Transition Year production staged right in the school hall.

The Story

Widely acclaimed as musical theatre's most comical dual love story, Guys & Dolls brings the colorful world of New York's small-time gamblers, high-rollers, and Salvation Army missionaries to vibrant life. Amidst dice games in the sewer and romantic trips to Havana, smooth-talking gambler Sky Masterson, steadfast sergeant Sarah Brown, high-roller Nathan Detroit, and showgirl Miss Adelaide navigate romance, high stakes, and unforgettable melodies.

The Production

Staged in the school hall from March 5th to March 8th, 1998, this Transition Year project involved over 90 students working across performance, set design, and programme layout. Following thirteen years under Michael Brett, the production marked Tommy O'Malley's directorial debut alongside musical director Phil Duffy, continuing Davitt College's proud annual musical tradition since 1982.
