🏆 Annual School Event • Sports & Awards 2009 Chasing Glory: Davitt College Annual Sports and Awards Ceremony 2009 May 2009 • Davitt College Castlebar The annual Davitt College Awards Ceremony was a magnificent celebration of athletic prowess, academic dedication, and student achievement, bringing together the entire school community to honour an unforgettable year. Led by Principal Mr. Ioseph McGowan, alongside the dedicated teaching staff and sports coaches, the ceremony shone a spotlight on the extraordinary talent thriving across every year group—from high-flying team performances on Gaelic pitches, basketball courts, and rugby grounds to individual milestones such as Karen Chambers capturing the All-Ireland Junior Boxing Championship title. The ceremony also celebrated our Transition Year cohort, with MEP Jim Higgins attending as guest of honour alongside Vice Principal Tommy O’Malley and TY Coordinator Tony O’Connor to present certificates recognizing student leadership, enterprise, artistic contribution, and service to school life.
