Design Thinking in Action: 5th Year Artists Revitalise School Courtyard

Davitt College’s 5th Year Art students put design thinking directly into practice by transforming a central courtyard space with striking artistic flair. Taking the project from initial architectural concept sketches to a vibrant mural, the space has been completely reimagined for the school community.

Davitt College Students Take the Stage for "The Rocky Road Sing Song"

Over 70 Davitt College students attended a major live music celebration at the TF Royal in Castlebar. In a standout highlight, five students took to the main stage alongside renowned Irish singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey to perform "The Fields of Athenry" live in front of a national school audience.

Transition Year students engaged in an invigorating workshop facilitated by Dr. Eamonn Furey (ATU Sligo). Students deconstructed music as a vehicle for political art before composing, writing, and performing their own poetic, socially conscious lyrics.

Davitt College officially launched its selection for the flagship Creative Schools Initiative. Led by Programme Coordinator Ms. Veronica Morley, this two-year project puts student voice and creative design thinking at the core of our school's learning experience.

Selection & Creative Associate Onboarding

Official selection by the Arts Council Ireland. Establishment of the Senior Committee under Coordinator Ms. Veronica Morley and initial collaboration with our designated Creative Associate.

Spring & Summer 2025

School-Wide Consultation & Workshops

Gathering student feedback across year groups to identify key spaces for revitalization. Launch of lyric writing workshops, spoken word sessions, and collaborative design planning.

Academic Year 2025/2026

Courtyard Mural & Performance Projects

Execution of major visual and performance projects, including the 5th Year Courtyard Mural, stage appearances at the TF Royal, and expanded cross-curricular design activities.

Creative Showcase & Lasting Legacy

Hosting a school-wide creative exhibition to showcase student achievements, with long-term integration of creative design thinking into the Davitt College curriculum.
