Beyond the Classroom

At Davitt College, modern language education thrives on authentic, real-world experiences that look far beyond the edge of a textbook. Our students actively interact with German traditions, digital media, civic community links, and immersive travel opportunities to cultivate genuine fluency and international confidence.

The Realschule Höchstadt Exchange

Our cornerstone partnership—now approaching 25 years—is a deeply cherished immersion experience. Our senior language learners travel to Bavaria to shadow native classes, participate in mock oral examinations with German educators, and explore the historic markets of Bamberg, gaining total linguistic and cultural fluency.

European Day of Languages

We celebrate our vibrant linguistic community every year with our annual European Day of Languages festivities. Our MFL department organises school-wide initiatives, including a creative, high-standard poster competition for all first-year students. This event provides a platform for students to share unique cultural insights within their classes and celebrates the diverse linguistic heritage of our student body.

Spring Hosting & Civic Recognition

Each spring, we extend a warm Céad Míle Fáilte to our German partner students, fostering deep bonds through collaborative workshops and reciprocal language lessons. Additionally, our students are frequent ambassadors for these links, often leading civic welcoming ceremonies – such as those for the Mayor of Höchstadt – auf Deutsch to showcase their real-world communication skills.
